Meet Kat Ivy
Singer/Songwriter
Kat Ivy is a Massachusetts-born singer/songwriter whose music blends heartfelt storytelling with raw emotional depth. Born on November 28, 1995, Kat grew up in a home where music was a constant presence. Her father, a former band member, made it a point to share his passion for music with his children, a legacy that took root early. With a family that shared a love for music, including her younger brother Tyler and her mother who loved to sing, Kat naturally gravitated toward songwriting and performing.
She received her first guitar at the age of five, but it wasn’t until twelve that she began formal lessons and, more significantly, started writing songs. Faced with personal challenges at a young age, music became Kat’s safe space. It was a way to process the chaos and connect with her emotions. Her songwriting became both a lifeline and a creative calling.
Kat earned her Associate’s Degree in Music and Performing Arts from Middlesex Community College, later continuing her studies at UMass Lowell and The Real School of Music, where she continues to hone her vocal and instrumental skills.
For two years, Kat was the lead vocalist and guitarist for the band Grace, before stepping into her own spotlight as a solo artist. Since then, she has performed in coffee shops, restaurants, talent shows, virtual venues, and even had the honor of opening for Boston favorite Chad Perrone (formerly of the band Averi).
In 2022, she released her debut singles "Circus Freak" and a haunting cover of "Sick Cycle Carousel" — emotionally rich tracks that explore the struggles of mental health through a dark, pop/rock lens.
After those releases, Kat chose to return to her roots, just her voice and an acoustic guitar, embracing the singer/songwriter path that first sparked her creativity.
Kat has brought her heartfelt performances to open mics, songwriter showcases, and cozy stages across central New England and Nashville TN, earning a loyal following drawn to her authenticity and emotional depth.
In October 2024 & 2025, her single "Memory Lane" and "Wonder Woman (for Rachel Jean)" was selected for Boston’s 92.5 The River Homegrown Showcase, a nod to her rising presence in the local scene.
Her debut EP "Nostalgia" dropped in June 2025 — a beautifully crafted collection that captures the bittersweet essence of looking back while moving forward..
"You will learn a lot more about me, as I go much deeper with my songwriting with my newer releases. I'm just hoping people will connect and relate to my experiences, that's what it's all about" - Kat Ivy
